Whole30 – Day 4

Whole30 – Day 3 Recap

Yesterday went good until my son got a fever last night while we were at our Crossfit Box.  If anyone read my “about me” you would know that I am the world’s biggest hypochondriac.  My stress levels definitely spiked, but I stayed calm (sort of) and my little dude’s fever was gone in the morning.  Thank goodness!

Since he was feeling better we decided to go grab breakfast at one of our favorite local spots.  We went grocery shopping as a family.  I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this little treasure on an end cap.

Then I kicked off a day of relaxation.  It was so blissful.  First I went to my friend’s salon and got the most amazing facial.  My skin is really dry.  Apparently because it’s been dry for so long, the enzymes in my acid mantle (I need to google that) are not really working and those little enzymes play a major roll in keeping my face hydrated.  Her plan for next time is to bring out the heavy hitters and perform an enzyme treatment on my skin to get those fellas working again.  I have been a tomboy my whole life and unfortunately I haven’t given my skin too much TLC until recently.  As I’ve mentioned before, I also suck at drinking water.

After my facial, I stopped by a local farm and picked up a bunch of meat, poultry and eggs for the next few weeks. My boys were still out having fun so I stopped and got my nails done.  By the time I got home I was completely relaxed.

My husband works in the video production field and I suckered him into helping me to a fast-motion video of my first recipe.  We’ll see how it turns out since this was a first for both of us.

I roasted a whole chicken, pulled all the meat off, threw the bones (along with chicken feet, hearts, livers, veggies and seasoning) into my crockpot and got a huge vat of homemade broth started.  I then cooked up my Butter Chicken recipe over cauliflower rice to eat for the next few days.  I love Saturdays!

Breakfast:

At First Watch, SOOOOO good.  The drink was a juice mix that they call “Day Glow”.  It’s made up of Carrot juice, Orange Juice, and ginger.  I didn’t eat the ketchup on the plate.

Dinner:

We were so busy cooking and videoing that I literally just picked off of this roasted chicken like a savage and ate my kid’s applesauce that he didn’t finish.

Snack:

After my facial I went to the adjoining coffee shop to get a snack.  This cozy little coffee shop serves almond milk, local farm eggs, and tons of paleo friendly and gluten-free snacks.  So I settled for an unsweetened almond milk latte.
